Press Statement on the burning of the Holy Quran by an extremist protestor in Sweden
AP/SEC/STMT/2023-001
Adhaalath Party joins the Islamic World in condemning in the strongest terms the burning of the Holy Quran by an extremist protester in Sweden on 21 January 2023. While all nations must work together to eliminate all forms of terrorism and racism and combat the rise of intolerance and hateful acts, it’s of deep concern we note the recent rise of Islamophobia and the vile attacks on Muslims and their sacred values in various parts of the world.
This is an act clearly targeted to hurt the sentiments of more than 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide, who hold the most sacred value in the Quran as part of their faith. Such heinous acts are aimed at creating distrust between communities and undermining the efforts of countless state and non-state actors to ensure global peace.
Adhaalath Party calls upon the Swedish authorities to take concrete steps to prevent such occurrences in future, and we stand in solidarity with the Muslim world in combatting terrorism, Islamophobia and hatred.
